Felix Rivera Finds His Purpose

Budding theatre actor Felix Rivera has landed the plum dual role of Princeton and Rod in Atlantis Productions’ staging of AVENUE Q, the Tony Award winning Broadway Musical. Felix has appeared in numerous productions such as Il Divino The Musical, Lam-ang The Musical, Footloose, Joseph the Dreamer, Basilia ng Malolos and was also the Musical Director for Ateneo Blue Rep’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.

Felix was one of over a hundred aspiring performers at the open call audition for AVENUE Q in February. Directors Bobby Garcia and Chari Arespacochaga called him back several times before offering him the role. Garcia says, “It’s a really crucial role in the show and we had to really make sure we were casting correctly. So we called him back about 3 times in the same day!” Chari Arespacochaga has worked with him before on HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.

Felix is thrilled to be a part of the cast of AVENUE Q. He says, “The music and the theme are very light but the issues they discuss are very real. I guess in a way, it tells us that even in our small little “happy” lives, there is “real” stuff that we have to take into consideration.”

He will take part in intensive puppetry workshops before beginning rehearsals for the musical.
